Dargaville Centenary Celebrations...

Dargaville town turned 100 years old in September!  The history of our town was all about kauri trees and digging for kauri gum.  Anyway, as part of the Centenary celebrations a lot of people dressed up in their yesteryear clothing, there was a flea market in the main street and just for fun, there was a trolley derby as well. 

LeftHand NZ joined in with an all day display of lefty goodies and of course there were some specials on offer too.  It was a lovely sunny day and enjoyed by all!

Presentation to Teachers…

I recently gave a presentation to the teachers of Ruawai Primary School about left-handedness covering what it means to be left-handed and the difficulties left handers face surrounded as they are with right handed equipment!  My presentation is especially geared to showing exactly how teachers can make it easier for young left-handed children. 

During the practical demonstrations the delegates actually experience for themselves the issues and difficulties of left-handedness.  This helps teachers to better understand the difficulties and to be far more aware of how they can make a very real and lasting difference to the left-handed children in their classes.

New smudge proof pens!!

Fabulous non smudge pens!  They are quite simply terrific for left-handers!

Mitsubishi Pencil Co. have combined ballpoint and rollerball pen technology and the result is a free flowing, smooth pen with strong, vivid ink – and the excellent news for us lefties is that the ink dries so quickly that there is no smudging!

These are really great for lefties who write with a ‘hook’ and for ‘lefty sidewinders’ whose hand comes in from the side and trails over the freshly written ink.  Even if you are a lefty ‘underwriter’ (like me) you’ll enjoy the smoothness, the easy flow of the ink and the soft grip, non-slip comfort of these Jetstream pens.  (Of course they work for righties too - it’s just that the quick drying ink is of more benefit to left-handers.)
